hi, i'm robert

i started posting on substack in 2025 because i wanted to share my photography somewhere that wasn't instagram. i think we are collectively drained by, yet tethered to, social media. that's a tired conversation at this point.

either way, as i started posting i found essay ideas bubbling up with nowhere to place them. so, i started posting them too. i've been journaling most of my life, ordering my thoughts in a way that helps me make sense of them. it's been a lifeline for dealing with the inside of my head and understanding my place in the world.

in hungry ghost, i'm attempting to write honestly about my experience as a human on planet earth and share what caught my eye as i traverse its crust.
